Hooray for a long Easter weekend!
This weekend has felt like a breath of fresh air. We don’t really do a whole lot for Easter, but I felt like trying my hand at natural dyes this year. Above is the result.
Not too shabby if I say so myself! I think the pink could’ve been pinker had I used fresh beetroot and not jarred stuff that was a month out of date! The orange from the yellow onion skins and the yellow from the turmeric was great. I just went for colors of the food scraps we had on hand to make it rather than go out and buy anything special.
Really I did all of this to amuse my own self. Once the kiddo wakes up we’re going to hide the eggs and have an Easter egg hunt in the garden.
Aside from that? We haven’t done anything remotely Easter-like. The 3 of us went swimming together at our local pool for the first time in nearly a year, which was great fun!
We haven’t purchased a single Easter egg and don’t feel particularly feel compelled to. Whether we actually buy one is typically hit or miss. The chocolate Easter egg thing wasn’t never really the focal point of my Easter celebrations growing up as a kid. Sure, I often got one, but I always preferred Peeps instead of chocolate and just enjoyed the time together as a family with the nicer Spring weather and the Easter egg hunts we did as a family.
We might do some baking as well at some point today or tomorrow if I feel the urge to, but really, that’s all about it plans wise. We’re also likely going to go to a local estate called Trentham Gardens tomorrow with my mother-in-law, her dog, sister-in-law and her partner.
Enjoy the long weekend if you’re lucky enough to have one!
